På votteboklansering :: Welcoming a new book from a friend

Mittens - a beautiful book by Nina Granlund Sæther. Photo from Cappelen Damm

Yesterday, we were welcoming a new book about mittens by Nina Granlund Sæther. The book is still warm from the print, and the first two editions are sold out! Luckily, the third edition is arriving soon. Nina gave us a very interesting lecture about the mittens she is describing in the book, and how she was chasing for new types of mittens all over Norway. Into the cold storerooms of the museums, wearing white gloves and carefully investigating to see how they were made. We think it's so interesting to hear Nina talk about this, she knows a lot about the knitting history of Norway!. The book is beautiful, and full of inspiring mittens patterns and mittens history.

You can find Ninas website here (in Norwegian), and her facebook group here.

Besøk hos Bjerke husflidslag :: Visiting the local branch of Norsk Husflid

Yesterday we visited the local branch of The Norwegian Folk Art and Craft Association, and talked about "hønsestrikk". We had a very nice evening , and we believe we managed to inspire more people to tell their own stories with yarn and needles. We started by talking about what "hønsestrikk" is, and how Kirsten Hofstätter invented this way of using leftover yarn. After that, we went on to tell about how we go forward when we make our designs. Finally, we let the participants have a try with crayons and knitting graph paper . The funniest proposal won patttern from our Ravelry store. The chat was lively and there sure was a lot of nice suggestions that came up.
An enjoyable evening!

Bjerke branch of Norsk Husflid have their meetings in a cosy old house at Årvoll Gård

Cecilie fant en fin plass med strikketøyet. Cecilie found herself a nice plce to knit.

We brought both old an new designs.

To hyggelige damer som koste seg. Two nice ladies enjoying themselves.

Praten gikk livlig. The chat was lively.

Husflidslagene har alltid veldig gode kaker. The handicraft branches always serve very good cakes.

Mange som hygget seg med håndarbeid. Lots of members enjoying the handicraft evening.

Ut i verden :: Hello world!

Utgitt i Storbritannia! The UK edition from Search Press

We are so excited that our book on "chickenknitting" is published both in the US and in UK, in addition to Norway and Denmark. It's so fun to use the fantasy, and being crative with the colours. The titles are a bit different between the US and the UK editions, but we think both are very good. The UK title "Creative Colour Knitting" explains most of what we want to express, but we think the US title. "Knit Yourself In" is a nice play on words. In chickenknitting, you can knit your own story into a nice, warm and cosy pullover :)

If you're staying in the US or Canada, and you want to buy the book, you can buy it from Trafalgar Square Books, or from Amazon.com.

If you're staying in Europe, you can buy it from Amazon.co.uk..

Of course, if you want the Norwegian edition, its available from tanum.no, the Danish edition is available from Turbineforlaget.
